Our
Sustainability Journey
Sustainability is a journey, and we move forward with transparency, responsibility, and purpose at every step. From small operational changes to bold new product innovations, and our current work developing EPDs and HPDs, each step we've taken has brough us closer to meeting the evolving needs of our customer, our industry, and the world we all share. While our efforts are still evolving, we're focused on building a foundation that aligns with customer expectations and industry standards.
Designing the Future of Sustainable Flooring
The flooring industry plays a critical role in shaping indoor environments. As buildings seek to meet stricter sustainability certifications like LEED and WELL, products that offer verified environmental and health impacts are increasingly in demand. Our flooring solutions are designed to help clients elevate their spaces while aligning with their long-term environmental commitments.
MindClick Sustainability Assessment Program (MSAP)
The MindClick Sustainability Assessment program (MSAP) measures Environmental and Social (ESG) impacts throughout the product life cycle, providing good, better and best ratings using a 200 point scale based on 9 metrics: Raw Materials, Chemicals, Manufacturing – Environmental, Manufacturing – Social, Packaging, Distribution, Hotel Impact, Guest Health and End of Use. Our partnership with MSAP allows us to continue forward with our journey towards environmental and social programs.
Health Product Declaration (HPD)
Signature Flooring has published EPDs for our infinity broadloom and colorpoint carpet tile products. Publishing Health Product Declarations (HPDs) discloses the contents and associated health hazards of building products. It helps manufacturers communicate material transparency and allows architects, designers, and building owners to make informed decisions about healthier, more sustainable materials.
Environmental Product Declaration (EPD)
Signature Flooring has completed EPDs for our infinity broadloom and colorpoint carpet tile products. Publishing Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) provides transparent, science-based data on a product’s environmental impact (including carbon footprint), which enable informed decision-making for customers seeking low-impact, environmentally responsible products.
CRI Green Label Plus Indoor Air Quality
Green Label Plus meets, and exceeds, California’s indoor quality standards for low-emitting products used in commercial settings. The carpet industry took the initiative to enhance its Green Label program for carpet, adhesives and cushion to meet testing protocols used by the Collaborative for High Performance Schools (CHPS). Under the agreement between CRI and the California agencies, Green Label Plus is acceptable for the CHPS low-emitting materials criteria.
The Green Label Plus symbol indicates:
- Signature voluntarily participates in the program and is committed to developing ways to minimize any adverse effects on indoor air quality.
- A representative sample of the product type is tested by an independent laboratory and meets the established emissions requirements.
- The product is also recognized by the US Green Building Council’s LEED version 4 standard as a Low-Emitting Materials Third Party Certification and can contribute one point to a building’s LEED score.
FloorScore®
FloorScore® is the most recognized indoor air quality (IAQ) certification standard for hard surface flooring materials, adhesives, and underlayments. Developed by SCS with the Resilient Floor Covering Institute (RFCI), a leading industry trade association of flooring manufacturers and suppliers, it qualifies for many green schemes including LEED v4.1, WELL, BREEAM, CHPS, and Green Globes.
Carpet America Recovery Effort
CARE is the Carpet America Recovery Effort. The non-profit was created to oversee the goals and targets documented in the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed on January 8, 2002 by the carpet industry, a number of states, the federal EPA and a small group of non-governmental organization (NGO’s). The mission of CARE is to advance market-based solutions that increase landfill diversion and recycling of post-consumer carpet, encourage design for recyclability and meet meaningful goals as approved by the CARE Board of Directors.
